Meatballs with a difference
And not with potato salad or mustard either, although I really celebrate the combination 😅.
Today there is an oriental version of German home cooking with lentils, coconut milk and lots of spices. You can find more creative recipes with minced meat in the article below.
This is how it is done:
You need the following ingredients:
- Coconut tomato sauce:
- 400 peeled tomatoes (canned)
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of pepper
- 0.5 teaspoons of chili powder
- 1 tablespoon curry powder
- 1 tablespoon of turmeric
- 400 ml coconut milk
- 100 grams of yogurt
- Lentil Meatballs:
- 100 grams of red lentils
- 400 g minced beef
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- Besides:
- yogurt
- spring onion
- Basmati rice or naan bread
The preparation is very simple:
- For the coconut tomato sauce: Place the peeled tomatoes, pepper, chili powder, curry powder, turmeric, coconut milk and yogurt in a tall bowl or a deep bowl. Puree with a hand blender into a homogeneous sauce.
- Lentils for meatballs: Cook lentils according to package directions, drain and rinse under cold water. Mix well the cooked lentils with the minced meat and salt. Roll into balls or rolls with wet hands.
- Heat the cooking oil in a deep frying pan and brown the meatballs on all sides. Pour in the coconut tomato sauce and bring to a boil. Simmer until the sauce has the desired consistency.
- Garnish oriental lentil meatballs with yogurt and onion and serve with basmati rice or naan bread.
- Enjoy!
