We will tell you how you can replace expensive ingredients in many dishes without realizing it, or how you can extend it and save a lot of money.

It applies to basic products such as butter, eggs and oil as well as mincemeat and the like: the price of almost all foodstuffs has risen in recent months. In the future we will show you how you can mix expensive and cheaper products without losing much enjoyment or even noticing.

It’s very easy to save money when cooking: stretch scrambled eggs

Egg prices, for example, have risen by around 24%. In many homes, scrambled eggs in the morning are part of the daily bread in the truest sense of the word. In the future, you can add a little milk and mineral water to the scrambled eggs. As for the color, it may not be as bright as yellow, but it is very tender and soft. There were also voices in our editorial team who believed that the structure of scrambled eggs with a little mineral water and milk was better than plain scrambled eggs.

How else could you save money on meatballs and beef dishes? The answer is simple: healthy oats. Not only do they contain more fiber, they’re more filling than breadcrumbs, eggs or stale bread, they’re also much cheaper and ultimately give you more volume. Simply mix two-thirds ground beef with one-third rolled oats. You can save everything but the seasoning and process the mince as usual.

No one wants to do without a moist cake. But even in this case there is a cheap alternative to the more expensive eggs, namely apple pulp. From a health perspective, this is again a good thing, as applesauce only contains the natural sweetness of apples. Another bonus: replace the eggs in your classic cake recipe with apple pulp. In our blueberry marble cake recipe, we replaced 4 eggs with 100 grams of apple pulp. The cake was very moist and tasted just as good. A really great saving tip. The only exception: dessert recipes that break eggs, or similar.

Everyone loves lasagna – how can it be cheaper?

To be able to store a lot of expensive meat and pasta dishes, you need a vegetable from which you can make strips like lasagna dishes. And to really get the kids involved, let’s take a vegetable that has no natural taste: zucchini. Cut it into thin strips or plan it like lasagna sheets and put it in the mold, saving pasta sheets and, above all, expensive minced meat. Unlike other dishes, here you will see and probably taste the difference. But it’s still just as delicious as “real” lasagna, and at the end of the day, everyone loves it.
